I’ve been skating the Silas ADV’s for just over 3 months, this is Silas Baxter Neal’s second shoe on Adidas and in my personal opinion is by far an improvement upon the jogger inspired Silas SLR.
The ADV takes roots from Silas’s Habitat team mate Stefan Janoski (Nike) and his adidas team mate Dennis Busenitz’s respective pro model shoes.
Whilst having ridden these two shoes in the past I can see where and why Silas has taken inspiration from these shoes, the shoes have a simple style that connects with the boat shoe’eque look that Janoski put in place whilst take a lot of the core shoe strength that Busenitz put in place.
Board Feel:
The Silas ADV’s whilst having a strong durable shape have a board set to the high standard of Stefan Janoski who decided that function over protection was something to strive for. Which means yes you can feel every damn part of your board.
Durability:
I kill shoes, fast, Busenitz ADV’s lasted me just over 2 months, Suede Janoski’s just under 2 months… Canvas Vans just over 3 weeks. These shoes have lasted 3 months, and still have retained comfort and sole. The soles just don’t want give and the side pads just don’t want to open, the material has a rigidity to it that whilst somewhat stiff doesn’t give out.
Final Comments:
The Silas ADV is one hell of a shoe and it looks damn good, and feels even better. 3 months is a long time for a shoe, this shoe has carried me through bad crashes, good times, 1 international trip, several events and some questionably long footbrakes and still has tonnes of life.
